Sylvias_mother
Having read some court transcripts from the Sylvia Likens murder case.. it seems that it was Sylvias mother who planted the idea in Gertrude’s mind that Sylvia was a “loose girl”.
She casually mentioned (in a brief 20 minutes conversation) that neither of the sisters had their periods and might need a check-up. She asked Gertrude her opinion.
Gertrude answered that if they had been “with boys”, they might be pregnant.
Sylvias mother answered that - if that was the case - getting rid of the babies was the best thing to do.
It also appears Gertrude had an attempted break-in. A man tried to get into the window and the police was called.
It seems that Gertrude was on medication (phenobarital, antihistamine, corlcidin, Potassium Iodide, ammosek, antibiotics, thorazine, “a little pink pill” prescribed by Dr Lindenborg) and slept a lot. She says Paula was the “woman of the house”.. taking care of things.
