The_thriller_and_the_twist
Many people enjoy a thriller with a twist. The twist should not be expected.
I read In the blood
by Lisa Unger
. She’s a good writer. But OMG what a terrible attempt of a twist! Agatha Christie sometimes has twists in her stories. They could always be described with a few words: ‘The narrator did it’, ‘They all did it’, ‘The judge did it after faking his own murder’, ‘Hercule Poirot did it’.
Lisa Unger want’s us to believe ‘The tutor had a crush on the protagonist.. and she was really a he.. and she had an unkown brother.. and the tutor made sure he/she got the job as a nanny for her/his own brother and..’
It’s almost a joke of a twist. So elaborate and impossible you don’t believe in the story any more.
I was just waiting for her to burst out into song “I’m my own grand-pa!!!”
